Your Child – A Precious Gift From God!!
God has entrusted your child to your care. And you want to give your child the best opportunity to grow and develop into a healthy and happy person.
That is the goal of “The Christian Sandbox,” too. Through this Christian preschool, you child can develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually. You will find that we are unique in that we incorporate values, teachings, and experiences into the curriculum that reflect Jesus and His love for us.
The purpose of “The Christian Sandbox” is to give each child who participates the opportunity to (1) Grow through Christ while promoting his or her social and emotional well-being; (2) Develop appropriate cognitive and physical skills; and (3) Have the means for creative expression.
The general goals of this preschool are as follows:
1. To provide a child-centered program where the preschool child will develop self-esteem through age-appropriate activities.
2. To incorporate Christian values and teachings whenever appropriate (for example, use of prayer, table grace, songs or stories, and instructional units).
3. To challenge and stimulate the child toward social, emotional, academic, and physical growth.
4. To be an advocate for the health and well being of families whose children are enrolled.
5. To help the family adjust between the child’s early years at home with parents and the beginning of formal education in kindergarten.
For Your Information...
Arrival and Dismissal:
Always bring your child into the classroom and present him/her to either the teacher or teacher’s assistant before leaving. Always say goodbye to your child. When picking up your child, please remember to buzz in at the front door because the church building is locked during the day for your child’s safety.
We encourage children to move, touch, and act freely. Discovery can be messy business! Clothing should be comfortable and washable. Please dress your child so that he/she can be comfortable during outdoor activities. Sweaters, jackets hats, mittens, and other clothing should be marked with your child’s name. Each child should bring a paint smock (or large old t-shirt) in order to protect clothing during discovery times. All students must leave one change of clothes at school in case of accidents.
You will receive a calendar at the beginning of school. The calendar generally follows the Central Greene School District calendar, with a few exceptions. A phone chain will inform you of closings due to bad weather or road conditions. Individual parent conferences will be held approximately halfway through the year. At this time, our teacher will discuss her observations of your child as well as any concerns you may have.
