Your Child – A Precious Gift From God!!

God has entrusted your child to your care.  And you want to give your child the best opportunity to grow and develop into a healthy and happy person.

That is the goal of “The Christian Sandbox,” too.  Through this Christian preschool, you child can develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually.  You will find that we are unique in that we incorporate values, teachings, and experiences into the curriculum that reflect Jesus and His love for us.

The purpose of “The Christian Sandbox” is to give each child who participates the opportunity to (1) Grow through Christ while promoting his or her social and emotional well-being; (2) Develop appropriate cognitive and physical skills; and (3) Have the means for creative expression.

The general goals of this preschool are as follows:

1.         To provide a child-centered program where the preschool child will develop self-esteem through age-appropriate

             activities.

2.         To incorporate Christian values and teachings whenever appropriate (for example, use of prayer, table grace, songs

             or stories, and instructional units).

3.         To challenge and stimulate the child toward social, emotional, academic, and physical growth.

4.         To be an advocate for the health and well being of families whose children are enrolled.

5.         To help the family adjust between the child’s early years at home with parents and the beginning of formal

            education in kindergarten.

For Your Information...

Arrival and Dismissal:

The child should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before each session. Always bring your child into the classroom and present him/her to either the teacher or teacher’s assistant before leaving.  Always say goodbye to your child.

When the session is over the teachers will bring the children out to you. They will wait with your child until you come to pick them up on West Street, directly in front of the Church (we want to prevent children from crossing West Street). It is important for you to be on time. Children are sensitive to being late and worry about being the last to leave.

Clothing:

We encourage children to move, touch, and act freely.  Discovery can be messy business!  Clothing should be comfortable and washable.  Please dress your child so that he/she can be comfortable during outdoor activities.  Sweaters, jackets hats, mittens, and other clothing should be marked with your child’s name. Each child should bring a paint smock (or large old t-shirt) in order to protect clothing during discovery times.  All students must leave one change of clothes at school in case of accidents.

School Calendar:

You will receive a calendar at the beginning of school. The calendar generally follows the Central Greene School District calendar, with a few exceptions.

In helping preschool children to prepare for the future, our staff members believe that preschool education should be a time for children to develop a self confidence in themselves. Their role is to provide structured opportunities for fun, creative exploration and play that help the children to grow in all areas of their lives.

Staff members welcome the opportunity to meet you and talk about your child's involvement in the Christian Sandbox. If you desire to speak with them, please contact First Baptist Church.

You're A Teacher Too!

You are the most important teacher your child can have. Through your interest in school activities your child will learn that home and school are both places of discovery. We encourage you to share ideas, activities, books, etc. which may be beneficial to your child and the preschool as a whole.

Please contact Jennifer Lash (724-627-6444 or csbpreschool@fbcwaynesburg.org) for a registration form.
